REI Travel Clinic

Hostelling International will be conducting a Travel Clinic at the REI Store in Huntington Beach at 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 27th. The clinic is free and registration is not required.

Workshop: Women Traveling Solo

Are you a female planning a trip overseas alone and are concerned about your safety? Don't be. Join this workshop and you'll be more confident traveling alone safely and enjoyably. In addition, get tips on budgeting, finding accommodations, and learning local languages and customs. The workshop will be held  Saturday, April 12th at 11 a.m.

Women Traveling Solo will be conducted at the HI Travel Store, 1434 Second Street in Santa Monica (between Broadway and Santa Monica Blvd.). There is a public parking structure directly across the street from the Travel Store with two hours of free parking. Admission for Hostelling International members is $5 and $10 for non-members.

2008 LA Marathon a Success!

Hostelling International is one of fifty participating charities in the Official Charities Program with the City of Los Angeles Marathon.  This year completes our thirteenth successive event and each one keeps getting better and better– especially since we have a great cheering section of volunteers like the ones featured in the photos above! 

Each year, volunteers who participate with HI-USA on Marathon Sunday express an interest in learning more about Hostelling International and the work that we do.  The immensity of the LA Marathon provides HI-USA visibility within the Los Angeles community, thus allowing us the chance to raise funds that support our youth education programs “Discover Your World” and “Cultural Kitchen.” Both programs are overnight adventures that take place at the HI hostel in San Pedro; all curriculums meet California Education Content Standards with special emphasis given to serving economically disadvantaged youth in the greater Los Angeles area.  

We would like to thank Girl Scout Troop #495, John Marshall HS Key Club, University HS Key Club, Torrance HS KIWIN Club, West High Key Club, Santa Monica College AGS Honor Society and to all individual volunteers.
